Kia Ora!

Hi there, and welcome to my little corner of the internet! I'm Alice, a 43-year-old living in New Zealand, and I'm thrilled to have you here. This blog is a place for women like us to connect, share, and grow together.

A Bit About Me

I was born and raised in New Zealand, and I've spent the last 22 years building a career in warehousing, with a bit of taxation thrown in for good measure. Along the way, I've had incredible experiences, from finishing 2 degrees and 3 majors from university in NZ, but the most rewarding part has been the amazing people I've met along my journey that have built my resilience, character and empathy. I have raised 2 children as a single parent (successfully might I add), bought my own home and have my dream life through sheer determination and hard work.

Why I Started This Blog

I started this blog because I believe women in their 40s have so much wisdom, experience, and passion to share. After facing my own challenges and triumphs, I wanted to create a space where we can discuss everything from health and wellness to fashion and family life. I hope this blog becomes a go-to resource and a source of inspiration for all my readers. Turning 40 comes with its obstacles that have affected my physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. To be honest, I thought I was going crazy. It turns out, I'm not the only one. My hope is this blog creates community and normalises all the issues we face during the aging process.

What You'll Find Here

From navigating hormonal changes to finding the perfect skincare routine, I'll cover a wide range of topics that matter to us. Expect posts on fitness, mental health, beauty tips, fashion advice, relationship insights, and more. My goal is to provide content that is not only informative but also relatable and empowering. If you see a topic that resonates with you or one that you think needs to be covered, please contact me, I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback.

My Personal Journey

My journey hasn't always been smooth. After a shock split in 2009 from the father of my children, I was left with nothing, only what we could fit in the car. My 5-week-old daughter didn't even have anything to sleep in. I was determined to not become a statistic and worked my butt off to build the life we have now (16 years as a single parent). Through these experiences, I've learned the importance of resilience and self-care. I want to share these lessons with you, hoping they can provide support and encouragement.

Interests and Hobbies

When I'm not blogging, you can find me out running, hanging on devices with my teenagers, being an unpaid Uber, fostering puppies and loving on the dog of my dreams. Travel has entered the arena again when I thought those dreams were over, with 3 international trips to be had in 2024 (1 down, 2 to go). These interests will inspire the blog content. I am often influenced to try new things, but I can hand-on-heart confirm that crafts are not something you will see on this blog, nor will there ever be a cooking recipe. I love discovering new hobbies that bring joy and balance to life. I'd love to hear about your favourite activities too!

Goals and Vision for the Blog

In the coming months, I plan to build up this platform to include a virtual discussion space, a weekly newsletter, social media influence and an empowered following. I envision this blog as a dynamic, evolving space that adapts to our needs and interests. My experience in building online business has had a big influence.
